In my opinion, „RedPaw – cancer research for pets“ is an initiative that is long overdue. Why shouldn´t veterinary and medical colleagues perform cooperative research? Humans and animals have many similar biochemical and biological mechanisms – and in both cases, a breakdown of the body´s own control systems can lead to tumor growth. Together, we have the chance to develop therapies against cancer that benefit both animals and humans.
